Early Show Coffee
A small-batch roaster and café in Austin that sells beans online with subscriptions, while every coffee keeps the look of a screen-printed show poster.
Concept A fictional business, designed and built by ESB to show the work. Names, prices and details are invented.

The café's regulars wanted to buy beans online, and the roaster wanted subscriptions without losing the personality of the shop, a repainted 1950s tire shop that hosts Saturday-morning sets. The store had to sell six coffees, explain roast days and make subscribing the easy choice.
What we built
A Commerce site on Shopify: home, collection, product, subscriptions, roast schedule, brew guides and the café. Subscriptions run through Shopify’s own subscriptions app, so customers skip, pause and cancel deliveries from their account without emailing anyone.
The bag artwork is drawn in SVG, so adding a coffee means choosing a colour, a motif and a name rather than booking a photo shoot. Orders placed before 11 a.m. Central ship on the day they are roasted, and the site says so wherever a customer decides.

Decisions that shaped it
The few choices that matter most on a site this size, and why we made them.
Every bag is a show poster
One shared bag layout, screen-printed in a different colour for each coffee, with its own motif in the central disc, from a grapefruit to a moon with Austin's bats. The packaging system doubles as product photography.
Names that fill the same width
The width axis of the typeface stretches short names and squeezes long ones, so NYERI and HUEHUETENANGO fill the same line on every bag, card and headline.
The hero is a gig poster
The coffee of the month is billed like a headliner. Its name is printed over a halftone sunrise with the bag standing on the horizon, and the price and roast days sit beside it.
